Allahulmustaan. Hasbunallah wanikmal wakil. Sesungguhnya Ramadan tahun ini antara Ramadan yang paling menggetirkan bagi umat Islam di seluruh dunia. Kita diuji dengan pandemik virus SARS-CoV-2 dan penyakitnya dikenal sebagai COVID-19 walaupun pada awalnya dunia mengenal virus itu mula merebak dari Wuhan, China.

COVID-19 is the name for the disease (coronavirus disease) and not the virus.
The virus that causes it is called something else. It is known as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Interesting, isn't it?
Why do the virus and the disease have different names?
Well, this is not unique to this disease.Viruses, and the diseases they cause, often have different names.
For example, HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. People often know the name of a disease, such as measles, but not the name of the virus that causes it (rubeola).
ICTV announced “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” as the name of the new virus on 11 February 2020. This name was chosen because the virus is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003.
WHO announced “COVID-19” as the name of this new disease on 11 February 2020.
By March we are have almost 2000 COVID-19 cases and 21 deaths in Malaysia. To date there is no known vaccine or specific drugs to cure the disease. The only way to fight it is to stop the spread.
